At Haslucks Green, we pride ourselves on the strength of the relationships that we develop with our children and you as parents. A nurturing environment has always been a top priority for us and we are excited to share that our school is embarking on a journey to become an accredited Nurture School - a special initiative aimed at creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all our students. 
The Nurture School approach focuses on building strong, trusting relationships between students and staff, fostering emotional well-being, and ensuring that every child feels valued and understood.
This approach is based on the belief that when children feel secure and supported emotionally, they are better able to engage in learning, develop social skills, and build confidence. By creating a nurturing environment, we aim to support not only the academic development of our students but also their emotional growth, resilience, and sense of belonging.
As we move forward with this exciting initiative, we will be implementing a range of practices that focus on emotional regulation, social skills development, and individualised support for each child to support what we already do. We want all of our students to thrive and feel empowered to reach their full potential, both in the classroom and beyond. We will be working with the children around the six principles of nurture:

 

  • Children’s learning is understood developmentally
  • The classroom offers a safe base
  • The importance of nurture is understood
  • Language is a vital means of communication
  • All behaviour is communication
  • The importance of transition in children’s lives is recognised
